Prow and Pastel upset opponents in Steel City opening round
The late entrant and American wild card both recovered from opening-game losses in Pittsburgh.

Margot Prow and Charlotte Pastel recorded notable opening-round wins at the Steel City Open in Pittsburgh. The event at Steel City Squash marked the first women’s-only PSA tournament held in the city, with both players recovering after losing their opening games.
Prow entered following a late withdrawal and arrived only hours before her match. The Barbadian beat Alicia Mead 5-11, 11-8, 12-10, 11-5, saving three game balls in the third game before taking control of the contest.
Eighteen-year-old wild card Pastel defeated Cindy Merlo 3-1 despite sitting more than 400 ranking places below her opponent. Hannah Craig won in five games, while Nadien Elhammamy also advanced in four.
