Qingdao prepares Asian team championships with China defending
The men’s and women’s group draws set the opening programme for the continental competition.

The Badminton Asia Team Championships prepared to begin in Qingdao with China defending the men’s title and India the women’s crown. Competition at the Qingdao Conson Gymnasium was scheduled to start on 3 February, with several countries entering squads that mixed established players and developing talent.
China’s men were placed with Thailand and Macau, while Indonesia faced Malaysia and Myanmar. Japan, India and Singapore formed Group C, and Chinese Taipei, Korea and Hong Kong competed in Group B for places in the knockout phase.
China and Malaysia made up women’s Group W. India was grouped with Thailand and Myanmar, with Japan, Indonesia and Hong Kong together, and Korea joined by Chinese Taipei and Singapore.
