Thomas Rettenegger won the men’s provisional competition round ahead of the Nordic Combined World Cup in Lahti. The Austrian reached 129.5 metres on the Salpausselkä HS130 hill and earned 141.8 points, recording the longest jump of the session in clear weather.

Norway’s Einar Luraas Oftebro finished second with 136.5 points after jumping 125 metres. Japan’s Ryota Yamamoto took third on 134.2 points from 129 metres, placing three different nations at the front of the provisional classification before the main combined contest.

Forty-nine athletes representing eleven countries completed a training jump followed by the provisional round. Rettenegger entered the session as the Best Jumper Trophy leader. The individual Gundersen event remained scheduled for the next day, beginning with its own jumping round.
