Local students and applicants from abroad support preparations for the July athletics meeting.
Source publication date:
Organisers of the European Under-18 Championships in Rieti received 500 volunteer applications in just over two months. The event is scheduled for 16–19 July at the Guidobaldi Stadium, bringing emerging athletes from across Europe to the Italian city.
Of the applications, 247 came from Rieti, 203 from elsewhere in Italy and fifty from abroad. The local group includes 135 students recruited through a programme of visits to city schools, with further meetings planned.
Volunteer registration remains open until 16 April through the official Rieti 2026 website. That deadline falls exactly three months before the start of competition. The figures show participation in preparations extending beyond the host city, while the school programme continues to involve younger residents in delivering the championships.
