Bogdan-Daniel Deac and Corina-Isabela Peptan won the Romanian national chess championships staged in Timișoara from 14 to 22 February. Open, women’s and amateur sections each used a nine-round Swiss format.
Deac secured his second national title, following his 2021 success, with 7.5 points from nine games. A final-round draw against Henry Edward Tudor protected his lead. Filip Magold and Constantin Lupulescu both finished on seven points, with Magold taking silver on tiebreak.
Peptan collected her thirteenth national championship. Four consecutive wins in rounds three to six created the decisive advantage before she drew her last three games. Andreea-Marioara Cosman finished half a point behind and took silver, while Elena-Luminița Cosma was third on Buchholz. These are completed national results, recorded under their February source date.
