Romero and Zein win five-game Calgary opening upsets
Four opening-day matches went the distance at the Canadian Copper tournament.

Noa Romero and Zeina Zein upset seeded opponents on Calgary Women’s Squash Week’s opening day. Romero beat Saskia Beinhard 3–2 in fifty-three minutes, recovering after losing the first game and then regaining control when the German levelled the match at two games each.
Zein defeated Madeleine Hylland 3–2 in forty-six minutes, taking the deciding game 11–8. Danielle Ray also needed five games against Sofía Mateos, winning the last two 13–11 and 12–10 after trailing two games to one during the Canadian tournament opener.
Kiera Marshall came from 2–1 down against Helen Tang, closing the final two games 11–6 and 11–2. Menna Walid, Yasshmita Jadishkumar, Toby Tse and Laila Sedky were the other winners, completing the eight players advancing to join the leading seeds in round two.
