Birk Ruud won Olympic men’s freeski slopestyle gold with an opening score of 86.28 points that remained unbeaten through the final. The Norwegian added the title to his Beijing 2022 big air gold after qualifying first in Livigno.
Defending champion Alex Hall took silver with 85.75 points on his second attempt. Luca Harrington earned bronze with 85.15 on his final run, moving from eleventh place and winning New Zealand’s first Olympic medal in the discipline.
Ruud’s opening run combined controlled rail work with a nosebutter double 12 on the jumps. The result continued the United States’ record of placing a skier on the men’s slopestyle podium at every Olympics since the event entered the programme.
