Rybakina and Svitolina advance after Indian Wells injury retirements
Kartal and Siniakova could not complete their fourth-round matches.

Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina reached the Indian Wells quarterfinals when their fourth-round opponents retired through injury. Katerina Siniakova stopped against Svitolina after thirty-eight minutes with a right-hip problem, trailing 6–1, 1–1 after two earlier marathon singles victories.
Sonay Kartal retired against Rybakina with a lower-back injury while behind 6–4, 4–3 after seventy-seven minutes. The British player had received treatment four times, including a medical timeout, before the condition ended a run featuring an upset of Madison Keys.
Both winners reached their third quarterfinal at the tournament. Svitolina had not faced a break point and produced twelve winners against eight errors, while Rybakina struck twenty-six winners. They advanced to separate meetings with Iga Swiatek and Jessica Pegula respectively.
