Sabalenka saves every break point to beat Mboko at Indian Wells
A flawless tiebreak helped secure the top seed’s quarterfinal victory.
Source publication date:
Aryna Sabalenka defeated Victoria Mboko 7–6(0), 6–4 to reach the Indian Wells semifinals. The world number one saved all five break points she faced and beat the Canadian teenager for the second time that season, following their Australian Open fourth-round meeting.
Sabalenka protected serve under early pressure and then swept the opening tiebreak without conceding a point, her first 7–0 tour-level tiebreak. A single break at 2–2 in the second set supplied the advantage she needed to close the match.
Mboko saved seven of eight break points and struck twenty-eight winners, but Sabalenka produced thirty winners against twenty unforced errors. The result secured a sixth consecutive tour semifinal for the top seed and a next-round meeting with Linda Noskova.
