Sakkari overturns Swiatek to reach Doha semifinals
The Greek ended a four-match losing sequence against Swiatek with a three-set recovery.

Maria Sakkari defeated Iga Swiatek 2–6, 6–4, 7–5 to reach the Doha semifinals for the first time in three years. The Greek recovered after a difficult opening set and ended a four-match losing sequence against Swiatek, levelling their tour head-to-head at four wins each.
Sakkari saved two break points at 4–4 in the second set before forcing a decider. She then led 5–2, withstood Swiatek’s recovery to 5–5 and converted her third match point to finish the contest.
The victory was Sakkari’s first against a top-five opponent since Miami in 2024. She advanced to meet Karolina Muchova, who defeated Anna Kalinskaya 6–3, 6–4 in the other quarterfinal.
