Salazar and Alonso win Miami opener before leading men’s seeds debut
The second day established most of the women’s round-of-sixteen field.

Ale Salazar and Ale Alonso began Miami P1 with a victory as the women’s round-of-sixteen field took shape. Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen, along with Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo, also won their opening matches, bringing the fifth, sixth and seventh seeds through.
Fourteen of the sixteen women’s partnerships had reached the next round, including the top four seeds who received byes. The following programme comprised eighteen matches: sixteen in the men’s draw and two women’s matches, completing the line-up at Miami Beach Convention Center.
The men’s leading pairs were due to start in sequence on the main court. Coello and Tapia faced Torre and Cabeza, Chingotto and Galán met Pincho Fernandez and José Luis Gonzalez, and Lebrón and Augsburger opened against Gutierrez and Oria after their Cancún final appearance.
