Teenage archer builds volunteer programme for older people
Samuel Kim’s Aim for Unity reported 28 community workshops.
Source publication date:
USA Archery profiled Samuel Kim, a 16-year-old New Jersey archer who founded Aim for Unity to bring adapted archery sessions to senior centres and assisted living homes. The idea developed after he introduced his grandmother to the sport.
The programme uses a Fivics Arrovel training system with Velcro-tipped arrows. Kim recruited fellow archers to help supervise sessions, building a team of 19 volunteer coaches with experience in range safety and basic instruction.
By January, Aim for Unity had delivered 28 workshops, with every host requesting a return visit. Kim planned careful expansion to nearby communities while keeping supervision and session quality central. His own background includes Regional Elite Team selection in 2025 and 2026.
