IJF publishes outlines for an inclusive Sarajevo judo event
The April announcement set participation arrangements for judoka with intellectual disabilities.
Source publication date:
The IJF published event outlines on 17 April for a Special Olympics judo event scheduled in Sarajevo on 25–26 September. It described the first opportunity for judoka with intellectual disabilities to compete within an IJF world-level framework.
The announcement reported more than 150 pre-registered participants from around 20 countries. Eligible participants included Special Olympics programmes and adaptive judo clubs affiliated with national federations. Those figures represented pre-registration, rather than verified final attendance.
The event followed a May 2025 cooperation agreement between the IJF and Special Olympics International. The April publication set entry deadlines and arrangements; this historical planning report does not substitute for a later account of the competition or its results.
