Scianimanico beats Gawad as Texas semifinal field settles
The Frenchman won in straight games while Kennedy survived a five-game quarterfinal.

Melvil Scianimanico defeated Karim Gawad 11-6, 11-7, 11-9 to reach the Texas Open semifinals. The world No. 47 followed his victory over Mohamed ElShorbagy by beating another former world No. 1, needing 38 minutes against the current third-ranked player.
His result set an all-French semifinal with Victor Crouin. Diego Elias and Marwan ElShorbagy also advanced, completing the men’s last four at Houston Squash Club after their quarterfinal wins against Muhammad Ashab Irfan and Dimitri Steinmann.
Georgina Kennedy survived a five-game challenge from Nadien Elhammamy. Olivia Weaver, Nour ElSherbini and Marina Stefanoni joined her in the women’s semifinals, with Stefanoni benefiting from Salma Hany’s retirement during the third game.
