Weston-super-Mare signed Scot Bennett on loan from Cheltenham Town to strengthen their squad for the run-in. The 35-year-old can play at centre-back or in defensive midfield and arrived with more than 550 professional appearances across several clubs.
His career included Exeter City, Notts County, York City and Newport County before Cheltenham. Bennett had also captained teams during previous seasons, including Exeter's 2014/15 campaign, and had made nine appearances for Cheltenham this season following knee surgery.
Manager Scott Rogers highlighted Bennett's Football League experience and its potential value during a schedule containing six away matches in seven games. The new recruit received the number twelve shirt as Weston pursued a strong league finish.
