Selekhmeteva defeats Parks in Austin opener
A three-set victory set up a second-round meeting with Kamilla Rakhimova.
Source publication date:
Oksana Selekhmeteva began her Austin campaign with a 6–4, 3–6, 6–3 victory over Alycia Parks. The twenty-three-year-old entered directly into the main draw after losing in qualifying at the previous edition, turning an improved ranking position into an opening-round win.
Selekhmeteva advanced to face Kamilla Rakhimova, who defeated sixth seed Anna Bondar 6–3, 7–5. Rakhimova had won two of their three previous meetings, although Selekhmeteva took the most recent contest in Turkey during 2025.
After the match, Selekhmeteva engaged the crowd with questions about local cowboy boots and described enjoying the city’s food on her previous visit. Her return to Austin therefore began with a stronger competitive result and another opportunity in the tournament.
