World Rowing restores Serbia’s full membership
The decision ended a suspension that had applied since May 2024.
Source publication date:
World Rowing lifted the Serbian Rowing Federation’s suspension and restored its full membership on 16 February. The suspension had been in place since May 2024.
Restoration returned the federation’s ability to enter crews and officials in World Rowing events and participate in Congress and governance processes. It could again nominate commission representatives, communicate directly with the international body and submit bids to host events in Serbia.
The decision followed engagement and review concerning the federation’s governance structures and compliance with membership requirements. Serbian federation president Marko Marjanović welcomed the outcome and reaffirmed commitments to responsible governance and international cooperation. Restored membership provides institutional rights and responsibilities; it does not itself award a championship place or approve a particular hosting bid.
