Shakpoke header gives Slough victory over Weston
Max Harris’s earlier penalty save could not prevent a 1–0 defeat.
Source publication date:
Slough Town beat Weston-super-Mare 1–0 at Arbour Park through substitute Ruben Shakpoke's second-half header. The only goal came in the 52nd minute from Jaiden Drakes-Thomas's corner, settling the match after a goalless opening period.
Weston goalkeeper Max Harris had saved Wiktor Makowski's first-half penalty, awarded following Jason Pope's challenge on Jared Myers. The visitors also threatened through Charlie Cummins, Luke Spokes and Emlyn Lewis before the interval.
Weston sought an equaliser after falling behind, with Scott Wilson shooting wide and Louis Britton twice going close with headers. Adam Desbois helped preserve Slough's clean sheet, and late corners brought no breakthrough despite Harris joining the attack. Cummins was named Weston's man of the match.
