Damilola Bartholomew Sholademi described a journey from teaching himself archery during Nigeria’s pandemic lockdown to competing and volunteering in Massachusetts. He helped establish ARCH Archery Club in Abuja, creating opportunities for newcomers and athletes who later represented Nigeria internationally.

After continental silver in South Africa in 2022, Sholademi moved to Massachusetts in 2023 for doctoral studies in criminology and justice studies at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He found coaching and community support through American ranges and volunteered at Onsite Archery.

Further results included African championship silver in Tunisia and Northeast regional indoor golds in 2024 and 2025. Now Nigeria’s national technical director, he aims to use those experiences in developing the sport at home, while his daughters also compete in New England.
