Shrimpton double wins Chester’s match with Spennymoor
The hosts recovered from an early penalty to prevail 2–1.
Source publication date:
Chester beat Spennymoor Town 2–1 at the Deva Stadium through two goals from Fin Shrimpton. The hosts had fallen behind almost immediately when Bobby Jones brought down Corey McKeown and Glen Taylor converted the resulting penalty.
Shrimpton equalised in the 13th minute after Connor Woods created space on the left and supplied him. Woods continued to threaten, but Brad James made saves to keep the teams level through the rest of the first half.
Soon after the interval, Shrimpton collected Dylan Mottley-Henry's flick-on and lifted the ball over James for his second. Spennymoor applied late pressure, with Rob Ramshaw striking the post, but Chester protected their lead to take all three points.
