Silver Gala opens wider entry with ranking-based selection
Rome’s 3 June meeting expands beyond its role as the Golden Gala test event.
Source publication date:
The Silver Gala at Rome’s Olympic Stadium will accept entries from senior, under-23, junior and under-18 athletes for an expanded programme on 3 June. Competition starts at 18:55, the evening before the Golden Gala Diamond League meeting.
Entrants will be selected using outdoor season rankings as of 17 May, up to the field limit for each event. Those limits include six in the men’s long jump, nine in each 100m race and sixteen in the women’s 1,500m.
The meeting is included in World Athletics’ Global Calendar, making performances eligible for international entry standards and ranking points. An invitational women’s 800m is also planned, with its field to be announced. The programme includes men’s sprints, hurdles, jumps and javelin and women’s sprints and hurdles.
