The pair reversed two previous major defeats against Danilina and Krunic.
Source publication date:
Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend defeated Anna Danilina and Aleksandra Krunic 7–6(4), 6–4 to win the Indian Wells doubles title. The ninety-four-minute final gave them a fourth championship together, reversing defeats to the same opponents at Roland Garros and the Australian Open.
Twelve consecutive holds sent the opening set to a tiebreak, where Siniakova and Townsend recovered from 4–2 down by winning five points in a row. They then led 4–1 in the second before their opponents brought the set back level.
Townsend held for 5–4, and the pair won the final eight points to close the match. It was Townsend’s first Indian Wells title and thirteenth career doubles trophy, while Siniakova collected her second title at the tournament and thirty-fourth tour doubles championship.
