Matteo Sioli and Erika Saraceni were named Lombardy’s athletes of the year at the regional celebration in Carugate. The selection combined social media preferences with votes from federation councillors, regional coaches and journalists, comparing eight male and eight female candidates.
Saraceni’s 2025 season included European under-20 triple jump gold, an Italian age-group record and two senior national titles. Sioli won European under-23 high jump gold, senior European indoor bronze and the Italian indoor title.
Dalmazio Bersini received the coach award for his work with 800m runner Francesco Pernici. Atletica Gavirate president Carmine Pirrella was named administrator of the year, and Giorgio Sardellini received the officials’ award. The ceremony also celebrated the region’s 61 individual senior or youth Italian titles.
