Slovakia defeat Germany to return to the Olympic semi-finals
Pavol Regenda’s three-point contribution led a six-goal quarter-final win.

Slovakia defeated Germany 6–2 in the first quarter-final of the Olympic men’s hockey tournament. Two goals thirty-three seconds apart during the second period helped the Slovaks take control and return to the semi-finals after their bronze-medal campaign in Beijing.
Pavol Regenda scored twice and assisted once. Dalibor Dvorsky and Oliver Okuliar each contributed a goal and an assist, with Tomas Tatar and Milos Kelemen also scoring. Goalkeeper Samuel Hlavaj made twenty-five saves as Slovakia maintained its advantage.
Lukas Reichel scored and assisted for Germany, while Frederik Tiffels added its other goal. German goalkeeper Philipp Grubauer stopped twenty-nine shots, but conceded three goals from five second-period attempts. Germany’s tournament ended despite entering the game after a convincing qualification-round victory over France.
