Sobhy outlasts Alves as Cincinnati’s top four advance
The American needed five games while Kennedy, Hany and Hutton completed the semifinal field.

Amanda Sobhy overcame Melissa Alves in five games to reach the Cincinnati Gaynor Cup semifinals. The American won 11-4, 8-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-3 after the French player twice recovered from a game behind to extend their quarterfinal to a decider.
Jasmine Hutton also recovered from an early deficit, beating Hollie Naughton 8-11, 11-6, 11-6, 11-4. Her victory earned a meeting with Sobhy, while the other semifinal paired top seed Georgina Kennedy with third seed Salma Hany.
Kennedy defeated Rachel Arnold in straight games, and Hany won 12-10, 11-6, 11-5 against Grace Gear. The results ensured all four leading seeds progressed at the Silver tournament in Cincinnati.
