Source publication date:
Ultrarunner Sophie Power discussed her sporting career and advocacy work in a new England Athletics podcast interview. The conversation followed publication of her book, The Power Within, and explored how running had developed alongside motherhood and her work to improve opportunities for women.
Power represented Great Britain on the gold-medal team at the 2025 twenty-four-hour World Championships. Her other achievements include a forty-eight-hour treadmill distance record and becoming the fastest woman to run the length of Ireland, after she had not regarded herself as sporty at school.
She described the 2018 image of breastfeeding during the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc as a turning point in her life. Her SheRACES network subsequently became a vehicle for addressing barriers affecting women and mothers, connecting personal experience with efforts to influence event practices.
