Sorci improves Italian junior heptathlon record in Padua
His 5643-point victory raised the national under-20 benchmark by seventy points.

Matteo Sorci won the Italian junior indoor heptathlon in Padua with 5643 points, improving his under-20 national record by seventy points. The performance followed his January mark in Miramas and added a junior title to the under-18 championship he won the previous year.
Sorci combined 7.03 over 60m, 6.96 in long jump, 13.09 in shot put and 1.99 in high jump on the opening day. He finished with 8.05 over hurdles, 4.50 in pole vault and 2:49.30 over 1000m.
Kevin Lubello won the under-23 heptathlon on 5422 points, while Manuel Lorenzon took the under-18 competition with 3872. Sofia Zanon secured the under-18 women’s pentathlon title on 3644 points, completing the championship’s final-day winners.
