Source publication date:
Southport welcomed goalkeeper George Pickford on loan from Everton. The Preston-born keeper joined Everton at eleven and progressed through the academy before signing his first professional contract, a two-year agreement running until June 2026.
Pickford became a first-year under-18 scholar ahead of the 2023/24 campaign. He made nineteen league appearances for the youth side during that season and also debuted for Everton's under-21 team as his development continued.
He represented England's under-18s in a friendly against Morocco in May 2024. During the following 2024/25 season, he shared goalkeeping duties with Fraser Barnsley and made seven Premier League 2 appearances before this opportunity to gain experience at Southport.
