Spain defeated England under-18s 3-1 in their UEFA Under-19 European Championship qualifying group in Croatia. The result left Spain with six points at the top of Group A5, while Ben Futcher’s Young Lions remained second with three points from two matches.

Manuel Angel Castillo opened the scoring and Miguel Llorente added a second before halftime. England replied when Reigan Heskey won a penalty and Chizaram Ezenwata converted, giving the Chelsea forward his third goal across the opening two qualifying games.

England introduced three substitutes early in the second half while searching for an equaliser. Alexis Ciria instead scored Spain’s third with nine minutes remaining, and goalkeeper Jack Porter prevented further damage. England’s final group match was scheduled against hosts Croatia on 31 March.
