The former Texas collegiate champion defeated Townsend in two tight sets.
Source publication date:
Peyton Stearns defeated Taylor Townsend 7–6(8), 7–5 to win the Austin title, her second WTA singles championship. The two-hour-twenty-two-minute final brought success at her adopted home tournament after she won the 2022 NCAA singles championship while representing the University of Texas.
Stearns saved three opening-set points before converting her fifth opportunity in the tiebreak. Townsend erased two second-set break deficits, but Stearns held under pressure for 5–5 and won the final three games to complete the straight-sets victory.
The champion had survived three deciding-set matches during her route to a first tour final since winning Rabat in 2024. Townsend later earned a trophy of her own, partnering Storm Hunter to defeat Eudice Chong and Liang En-shuo 6–3, 6–4 in doubles.
