Sundling beats Skistad for Drammen classic sprint victory
Faehndrich took third as the sprint title race approached its final event.

Jonna Sundling won the women’s classic sprint World Cup in Drammen, defeating hometown favourite Kristine Stavaas Skistad by 0.77 seconds. Switzerland’s Nadine Faehndrich finished third, 1.59 behind the Swede, after Sundling and Skistad contested the final approach together through the closing straight.
Johanna Hagstroem placed fourth, followed by Laura Gimmler and Ane Appelkvist Stenseth. Fastest qualifier Linn Svahn missed the final after a quarterfinal fall and a third-place semifinal finish, ending her run of three consecutive sprint podiums on the World Cup circuit.
The result narrowed the discipline standings before the last sprint of the season. Maja Dahlqvist remained first on 720 points, Hagstroem moved within twelve points and Faehndrich remained in contention on 700 as she approached the final events of her career.
