Svitolina explains benefits of extended offseason break
The Ukrainian described recovering motivation after ending her previous season early.

Elina Svitolina described how ending her 2025 season early helped restore motivation for competition. In a WTA interview before Doha, she explained that feeling overwhelmed had prompted a break after the Billie Jean King Cup semifinals, despite remaining close to a return to the top ten.
The extended offseason combined rest and training with travel away from tennis. Visits to Saudi Arabia and Doha and hiking in Portugal gave Svitolina different experiences beyond the routine of practice and tournament preparation.
She returned in January with an Auckland title and her first Australian Open semifinal, moving back into the top ten. Svitolina linked those results to renewed enjoyment both on court and away from it, rather than forcing herself through another tournament schedule.
