Sweden beats Finland for Narvik junior team parallel gold

Sweden won the team parallel title at the Alpine Junior World Championships in Narvik, defeating Finland 3-1 in the final. Esther Nordberg, William Haellqvist, Moa Landstroem and Alexander Ax Swartz secured their country’s fourth consecutive medal in the discipline and second gold in four editions.
Sweden opened with a 4-0 win over Poland, eliminated defending champion France 3-1 and beat Switzerland on a semifinal tiebreak. Finland advanced through victories over the United States and Germany before overcoming Austria on another tiebreak to reach the final.
Switzerland earned bronze against Austria after their small final ended level. The result gave Sweden and Finland their first medals of the championships and interrupted France’s gold sweep across the four events previously completed in Narvik.
