Swiatek ends Muchova winning streak with emphatic Indian Wells victory
The second seed lost only two games and faced no break points.
Source publication date:
Iga Swiatek defeated Karolina Muchova 6–2, 6–0 in seventy-seven minutes to reach the Indian Wells quarterfinals. The second seed ended Muchova’s eight-match winning streak and moved to five victories from six career meetings with the recent Doha champion.
Swiatek broke five times without facing a break point, using proactive returns and controlled forehand decisions to dictate play. A prolonged sixth game supplied the initial opening-set break, and an early second-set break began a rapid finish against the Czech player.
The result delivered Swiatek’s twenty-seventh WTA 1000 quarterfinal and thirty-eighth 6–0 set at that level. Indian Wells became her third-most productive tournament by match wins, behind Roland Garros and the Australian Open, as she advanced to face Elina Svitolina.
