Source publication date:
Tajikistan qualified for the 2027 Asian Cup after drawing 1-1 with the Philippines in Hisor. Both teams finished the final qualifying round on fourteen points, with Tajikistan’s superior goal difference securing first place in Group A and the available finals berth.
The Philippines needed victory and opened the scoring through Raphael Obermair, whose effort deflected past Rustam Yatimov. Tajikistan responded before half-time when Sheriddin Boboev scored following a move initiated by Shervoni Mabatshoyev.
The home side could have taken the lead after the interval, but Mukhammadzhon Rakhimov’s overhead attempt did not seriously trouble Kevin Mendoza. The Philippines pushed for another goal without success, leaving the Hisor crowd to celebrate qualification and the visitors narrowly missing out.
