Johanna Talihärm and Yunjong Won were elected to the IOC Athletes’ Commission by competitors at Milano Cortina. The Estonian biathlete and Korean bobsledder were chosen through voting across six Olympic villages, with 2,393 athletes casting ballots.

Turnout reached 83.4 per cent, the second-highest figure recorded at a Winter Olympics. Talihärm, a four-time Olympian, was elected for an eight-year term extending to Utah 2034 and joined Martin Fourcade as a biathlon representative on the commission.

The IBU report said Talihärm would also be proposed for IOC membership at the closing day of the 145th Session. Her election confirmed an athlete representation role determined by fellow Olympians, with the membership proposal still a separate subsequent institutional step.
