Basketball New Zealand highlighted ten players connected with NCAA Division I tournament teams in its March roundup. Eight women and two men featured in the report, with UCLA's Charlisse Leger-Walker and California Baptist's Shawnessy Nordstrom drawn against each other in the opening round.
Leger-Walker had started all 32 UCLA games after a lengthy injury absence, averaging 5.6 assists. Gonzaga's Lauren Whittaker had averaged 19.4 points and 10.2 rebounds and earned both player and freshman of the year honours in the West Coast Conference.
The men's representatives were freshmen Hayden Jones of Wisconsin and Oscar Goodman of Michigan. The women's overview also included players managing injury recovery, with Lilly Parke supporting Fairleigh Dickinson from the bench after an ACL injury ruled out her season.
