Tennis writer Mark Hodgkinson dies aged forty-six
The WTA remembered a former Telegraph correspondent whose books and reporting covered leading players.

Mark Hodgkinson, the tennis writer and former Daily Telegraph correspondent, died aged forty-six. The WTA reported that he became ill at home on 4 February and died in hospital the following day, remembering his contributions to reporting and books about the sport.
Hodgkinson served as the newspaper’s tennis correspondent from 2005 to 2011 before working as a freelance journalist and author. His books included biographies of Serena Williams, Andy Murray and Ivan Lendl, alongside work examining Novak Djokovic’s career.
His 2024 book about Djokovic received an international sports-book award in 2025. Hodgkinson also contributed to Wimbledon, Davis Cup annuals, the London Olympic programme and ATP Finals publications, building a career that extended across several major tennis organisations.
