The New Saints and Briton Ferry reach the Welsh U16 cup final
A 7-0 semi-final win and a forfeit determined the two finalists.
Source publication date:
The New Saints and Briton Ferry Llansawel reached the Bute Energy Under-16 Cup final by different routes. The Saints defeated Barry Town United 7-0 at Jenner Park, while Briton Ferry advanced after Swansea City were unable to field a team for the other semi-final.
The Saints scored five times in the last thirteen minutes of the first half. Erin Barton and Evie Wigley each struck twice before Lilly Garrett added another, turning a restrained opening period into a decisive advantage before the teams left the pitch.
Garrett completed her own double early in the second half and Ella Breese supplied the seventh goal late on. The Saints had also recorded two 8-0 away wins earlier in the competition. The final was scheduled for May 3, with the neutral venue still awaiting confirmation.
