Thorleifsdottir extends Debrecen stay as her attacking role grows
The Swedish left back reflected on her first Champions League campaign and the value of facing Europe's strongest teams.
Source publication date:
Kristin Thorleifsdottir discussed her expanding role at Debrecen in a March EHF interview after extending her contract for another year. The Swedish international was in her second season at the Hungarian club following a move from H65 Höör.
Known primarily for defending, she had scored 42 goals in her first Champions League campaign, ranking fourth among Debrecen's scorers. She said games against leading European teams brought a faster rhythm and confidence that also benefited the club's domestic performances.
Debrecen reached the play-offs with six wins and twelve points in the group phase. Thorleifsdottir emphasised lessons from close defeats and the influence of the home supporters, while looking to carry that experience into the knockout stage and future seasons.
