Tobin Heath was set to receive a retirement celebration in her home state of New Jersey before the United States faced Colombia at the SheBelieves Cup. In a new U.S. Soccer interview, the former winger described returning to the place where her football career began.
Heath's international record included 181 appearances, thirty-six goals and forty-two assists. She helped the United States win consecutive World Cups in 2015 and 2019, alongside two Olympic gold medals and a bronze, and was due for National Soccer Hall of Fame induction in May.
The interview also examined Heath's continuing involvement through media, mentoring and tournament work. She described the influence of watching the 1999 World Cup and hoped the current national-team generation would build a similarly lasting connection with young supporters.
