Townsville win fifth WNBL championship in overtime thriller
Courtney Woods and Miela Sowah helped the Fire overcome Perth 108–105.

Townsville Fire defeated Perth Lynx 108–105 in overtime to win their fifth WNBL championship. The victory completed a two-game sweep after an 88–79 opening win, ending Perth's attempt to claim its first title since 1992.
Championship series most valuable player Courtney Woods scored a career-high twenty-eight points, with eight rebounds and seven assists. Alicia Froling added twenty-five points and eight rebounds, while Miela Sowah made the late shots that proved decisive in regulation and overtime.
The game featured forty-one lead changes at a sold-out Perth High Performance Centre. Anneli Maley supplied twenty-seven points and nineteen rebounds for the Lynx, but Townsville's finish delivered a second championship in four years and another title for coach Shannon Seebohm.
