Mariia Travinicheva and Ilia Khurtin won the individual parallel giant slalom titles at the Junior World Championships in Folgaria. Both competed as Individual Neutral Athletes and earned their first world championship medals during racing on hard snow beneath sunny conditions at the Italian venue.
Travinicheva defeated Xenia von Siebenthal in the women’s final after overcoming Lanxi Wei in the semifinal. Wei recovered to win bronze by three-hundredths of a second in the small final, securing her first championship medal, while Ina Reichelmeir placed fourth.
Khurtin beat Walker Overstake in the men’s final after the American made a late mistake. Overstake’s silver was his first individual championship medal, following a strong month that included fourth in a senior World Cup.
