Tunisia end Sami Trabelsi’s tenure after AFCON exit
The federation confirmed a mutual termination involving the national team’s technical staff.
Source publication date:
Tunisia ended their contractual relationship with head coach Sami Trabelsi and the national team’s technical staff after elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations. CAF reported the Tunisian Football Federation’s confirmation less than a day after the last-sixteen defeat to Mali.
The federation’s statement described the termination as a decision made by mutual consent. Tunisia had drawn 1-1 with Mali after extra time before losing the penalty shoot-out, despite their opponents playing much of the game with ten men.
Tunisia’s campaign had begun with a 3-1 win over Uganda, followed by a 3-2 defeat to Nigeria and a 1-1 draw against Tanzania. The knockout exit brought the coaching change after that sequence of inconsistent results in Morocco.
