Türkiye end Hungary under-19 qualification hopes
Hungary’s second-half recovery fell short in Cosenza.

Source publication date:
Türkiye defeated Hungary 3-2 in the under-19 European qualifying elite round in Cosenza. The defeat ended Hungary’s hopes of reaching the summer finals, leaving the team with a final group fixture against Slovakia to complete its Italian tournament programme.
Türkiye established a three-goal halftime lead despite Hungary creating several chances that goalkeeper Aydin saved. Hungary improved after the interval, with Kevin Mondovics scoring early in the second half and Bendegúz Kovács adding another goal during stoppage time.
Assistant coach Balázs Veress, replacing suspended head coach Szabolcs Kemenes, praised the group’s second-half response but acknowledged its difficult opening period. Aydin finished with seven major saves, preventing Hungary from completing the comeback and protecting the Turkish side’s chance of group qualification.
