Tuthill’s personal best brings European hammer silver
The Irish thrower reached 72.48 metres in Nicosia’s senior competition.

Nicola Tuthill won senior hammer silver at the European Throwing Cup in Nicosia with a personal best of 72.48 metres. The mark improved her previous best of 71.75 and moved her closer to Eileen O’Keeffe’s Irish record of 73.21.
Denmark’s Katrine Koch Jacobsen won with a national record and world-leading 75.52 metres. Guðrún Karítas Hallgrímsdóttir finished third with an Icelandic record of 71.41, leaving Tuthill between two national-record performances on the podium.
Tuthill had won the under-twenty-three title at the same meeting the previous year, after earlier silvers in 2023 and 2024. Ireland’s Anna Gavigan also opened her season in Nicosia, finishing fifth in the under-twenty-three discus with a season best of 51.07 metres.
