Source publication date:
State Referee Committee leaders met in Atlanta on February 21–22 for U.S. Soccer’s Refereeing Leadership Conference. The gathering, held alongside the federation’s annual general meeting, examined referee recruitment, retention, coaching and the technology supporting those activities.
Sessions covered the third phase of the Referee Abuse Prevention policy, including an enhanced reporting tool and safeguarding standards. Officials also discussed RefEval, a centralised evaluation system, and the U.S. RED education platform.
Further work addressed mentor pathways and clearer match-assignment processes. The federation used the meeting to connect national resources with state programmes, including campaigns encouraging people to become referees and to respect officials during matches.
