UCI updates participation and equipment provisions
June Management Committee decisions covered athlete eligibility, jersey pockets and equipment sanctions.
Source publication date:
The UCI Management Committee met from 2 to 4 June and announced changes on 5 June. Following IOC recommendations, Belarus was removed from the federation’s special restrictions, permitting national teams and athletes to compete without the associated symbol and protocol limitations.
Russian junior riders and their support staff were exempted from applying for Individual Neutral Athlete status. These changes describe the categories expressly covered by the decision and do not establish unrestricted eligibility for every Russian athlete.
Equipment provisions taking effect on 1 July introduced more targeted sanctions for non-compliant accessories. Jersey pockets were required to sit at the rear, with a front-pocket exception for a radio. The committee also approved standardised safety pictograms for adoption by organisers from the following season.
