Ukraine beat Hungary under-21s in Budapest
A late Hungarian goal could not reverse the qualifier.

Source publication date:
Ukraine defeated Hungary 2-1 in an under-21 European Championship qualifier at Budapest’s Új Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium. The result left Hungary fourth in the group and marked coach Antal Németh’s first competitive fixture in charge of the age-group team.
Pyshchur headed Ukraine ahead during the first half. Synchuk added a long-range strike after the interval, extending the lead before substitute Vilmos Dénes scored Hungary’s consolation in the fifth minute of stoppage time, immediately before the final whistle.
Hungary goalkeeper Ármin Pécsi made several saves, while Ukraine’s Popovych denied important home chances. Németh expressed dissatisfaction with intensity and defensive aggression. Hungary’s next qualifying assignment was scheduled in Croatia in September, followed by a home meeting with Lithuania.
