Ukraine's men's team prepared for another Volleyball Nations League campaign after finishing tenth among eighteen teams in their 2025 debut. That season included victories over Japan and the United States, alongside five-set contests against eventual medallists Italy and Brazil.
FIVB said its Empowerment programme had allocated USD 287,750 to the team. The support helped the Ukrainian federation appoint experienced coach Raul Lozano, who took charge in 2024 after earlier international coaching roles with several national programmes.
Captain Yurii Semeniuk finished as the leading blocker at the 2025 VNL. Ukraine's next campaign was scheduled to begin in Linyi, China, before rounds in Ljubljana and Belgrade, with the team ranked seventeenth when FIVB published its assessment.
